Special Events – Providence School

Christmas Concert

This takes place on the last day of the first term. Dismissal for the Christmas break takes place after the concert. Everyone enjoys getting into the Christmas Spirit!

Graduation

Graduations for the Elementary and Secondary Schools are held in June.  This is a highlight in our school year as we celebrate and honour our graduates for their achievements.  As we say our fond farewells we know that our graduates are well prepared for their future educational pursuits.

Halloween Spooktacular

This is a “not to be missed event” which draws visitors from across the island. This annual fundraiser turns our Providence campus into an interactive Hallowe’en adventure for youngsters. Add food, music and treats for all ages and you have the perfect family outing. Our parent volunteers and staff make it all possible.

Multicultural Day

Although a large percentage of our students are Barbadian, Providence welcomes students from over 20 countries. Multicultural Day is designed to promote education and celebration as students and staff share their culture, heritage and music with each other. We feel truly blessed to be part of a school community with such rich diversity.

Sports Day

This is a special day, highly anticipated by students, staff and parents alike. Our four houses are keenly competitive and each wants to win the coveted Sports Day Cup. Sportsmanship is stressed and cheering strongly encouraged. There are various track events as well as fun filled races like sack races and “Catch the Bus”. Our physical education teacher and house leaders prepare students for their events.

Beautification Day

On this day, during Earth Week in April, families donate plants which are added to the school property by the students with the help of our groundskeepers. This year we are refurbishing our fernery, one of only two remaining on the island.

Invitational Chess Tournament

For the past 6 years Providence Elementary School has successfully hosted an Invitational Chess Tournament.  More than a dozen schools across Barbados compete to be the best at Chess!  Providence always fields a strong team who practice throughout the year in our Chess Club.

Swim Meet

Providence Elementary School’s swim meet takes place in September at the Aquatic Centre. It is the first sports event for the academic year and sets the tone for our sports programme. It is a day of fun, competition and is used as a gauge for swimmers who will be selected to represent Providence at the National Primary School Swimming Championships in October. The day is one of our most exciting days enjoyed by students, parents and staff.
