Inspiring Curiosity: Providence Launches New Elementary Science Program in September 2026

Beginning in September 2026, Providence School will embark on an exciting new chapter with the launch of its Elementary Science Program. This initiative reflects our commitment to providing students with a dynamic, future-focused education that nurtures curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking from an early age.

At Providence, we believe that children learn best by doing. Rather than simply reading about scientific concepts, our students will investigate, experiment, observe, question, and discover through hands-on experiences that bring learning to life. The new program has been designed to spark a lifelong love of science while developing the problem-solving and analytical skills that students will need in an increasingly complex and innovative world.

The new Science Program will become a vibrant learning environment where students can explore a wide range of science subjects through inquiry-based learning. Equipped with age-appropriate equipment, resources, and interactive learning materials, the program will encourage students to think like scientists—asking questions, testing ideas, and learning from observation and experimentation.

What makes the Providence program especially unique is that science will extend well beyond the walls of the classroom. Students will engage in practical learning experiences involving agriculture, animal husbandry, ecology, and environmental stewardship. By caring for living things, observing ecosystems, and exploring the natural environment around our historic Francia Plantation campus, students will develop a deeper appreciation for the interconnectedness of science and everyday life.

Leading this exciting initiative is Mr. Anthony Lynch, a long standing Providence School staff member, as our dedicated Elementary Science Teacher. Mr. Lynch brings a passion for experiential learning and will work with students across the Elementary School to make science engaging, relevant, and accessible. Through carefully designed investigations and real-world applications, he will help students build confidence as they develop the habits of curiosity, observation, collaboration, and discovery.

The launch of the Science Program has been made possible through the extraordinary generosity of the Providence community. Funds raised during our 20th Anniversary Golf Tournament are providing the resources needed to establish the Science & Discovery Lab, purchase equipment and learning materials, and create meaningful hands-on experiences for our students. It is a wonderful example of how community support directly enriches the educational experience of every Providence child.

This investment represents much more than the introduction of a new subject. It reflects Providence’s vision of preparing students not only for academic success, but for thoughtful citizenship and lifelong learning. By encouraging students to ask questions, embrace challenges, and explore the world around them, we are helping them develop the confidence and curiosity that will serve them throughout their lives.

As we prepare to welcome students into the Science Program this September, we look forward to seeing a new generation of young scientists exploring, experimenting, and discovering that learning truly comes alive when curiosity leads the way.
