VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

[stm_multy_separator]

Providence School offers excellent opportunities for parents to participate in programs and events that help enrich the education of our children and strengthen the bonds of our Providence Family. From the very beginning of Providence School in 2005, volunteers have donated their time and energy to several programs, committees and special events.
We urge you to volunteer your time and talent!
We have varied opportunities to suit your schedule. Please consider joining a committee or volunteer on a one time basis.
A few of our volunteer opportunities are outlined below. To obtain more information or to volunteer, please contact Elementary School or Secondary School.

Curriculum Projects

Two main curriculum programs include the “Book in the Bag” program and the Reading Volunteers’ Program. Book in the Bag volunteers contribute their time each week on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, gathering up student book folders, review parent and teacher feedback, and select new books to go home based on parent and teacher input. Reading Program volunteers receive reading training to supplement in-class reading practice for the children during the school day on a scheduled basis. Please contact Elyssa Campbell at [email protected]. This is only available at the Elementary School.

School Yearbook

The school yearbook provides a great photo essay about daily school life and annual events at Providence. Volunteer opportunities include layout, text/editing, photographs, scanning, production, sales and advertising activities. Proceeds from the sale of yearbooks support curriculum initiatives and related activities.

Fundraising

Providence fundraising activities combine the best of fellowship and fun and occur at various times over the school year. Volunteer opportunities include event organization, marketing, obtaining prizes and items for sale as well as assisting at the function

Social Committee

The Social Committee helps coordinate event preparation, food and drinks for PTA functions and special school events including Welcome the New Parents BBQ (for Elementary School), New Parents Wine and Cheese (for Secondary School), Sports Day, and Parent/Child Brunch (for Elementary School). There is always something going on at Providence and this Committee is generally at the very heart of things – it’s a great way to get to know parents and staff.

After School Activities

Do you have a special skill, talent or expertise in coaching a particular sport? If you are interested in donating your skills and time to support an After School Activity, please contact Elementary School or Secondary School.

Community Outreach

Our Community Outreach initiatives are another excellent opportunity where staff, students and parents combine their energies to “give back” to our local community. Recent efforts have seen the Providence Community donate books to establish a library at another school on the Island, a food drive to assist local families and a Christmas gift program at a church in St. George.
